John R. McFie Gallery of NMSU History Ribbon Cutting

Scheduled for June 27

President McFie

DATE: June 5, 2024 - LAS CRUCES, N.M.

The New Mexico State University (NMSU) Foundation today announced a celebratory ribbon cutting and reception to honor New Mexico’s history, a distinguished family legacy, and an endowment that supports the Archives and Special Collections at New Mexico State University.

A transformative contribution from John Porter Bloom, grandson of New Mexico College of Agriculture & Mechanic Arts founder John R. McFie, established the John R. McFie Gallery of NMSU History. The celebratory ribbon-cutting ceremony takes place on Thursday, June 27, 2024, from 3 to 4 p.m. at the NMSU Archives and Special Collections on the 4th floor of Branson Library.

Gifts like the McFie Archives Endowment Fund advance the vital work at the NMSU Library’s Archives and Special Collections and benefit students by providing access to unique collections for class projects, research, theses, and dissertations, along with internships and employment opportunities.

Members of the NMSU staff and the local community are invited to be a part of the ongoing narrative of our past, present, and future alongside the descendants of one of NMSU’s founders.
