NMSU Foundation announces inaugural Chihuahua Day on April 6

DATE: April 4, 2024

The inaugural NMSU Chihuahua Day will take place this Saturday, April 6 on the New Mexico State University (NMSU) campus in Las Cruces, sponsored by the NMSU Foundation and Alumni Association. Held in conjunction with the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences’ fifth annual ACES Open House from 9 a.m. to noon, Chihuahua Day celebrates the rich heritage of NMSU students from New Mexico’s sister state of Chihuahua, Mexico.

During Chihuahua Day, NMSU graduates from Chihuahua are invited to revisit their alma mater for tours, get-togethers and opportunities to connect with fellow alumni, in addition to attending the ACES Open House. The event is free and open to the public.

“Our cross-country relationship with Chihuahua is strengthened by everything we do as NMSU - the stronger we are, the stronger Chihuahua will be,” said Dr. Sylvia Y. Acosta ’10, CEO of the NMSU Foundation. The NMSU Foundation and Alumni Association have invited all Chihuahua-based graduates to take part in the festivities. For more information about the open house, call 575-646-2877 or visit the event website.

“¡Bienvenidos a su casa!,” added Dr. Acosta in welcoming NMSU’s Chihuahua alumni back.
