College of HSS Student Scholarship Dean's Excellence Fund Other

When Covid-19 made its way across the country in early 2020, Olivia DeLeon was in the perfect position to help her New Mexico State University peers – and your generous support helped make that possible.

The Farmington, New Mexico, native is earning her master’s in public health and works at the Aggie Health and Wellness Center, where she engages with students about Covid-19 and making healthy decisions. Olivia is half Navajo and began this path through the Bridges to Baccalaureate program for Native Americans. Scholarships made her attendance at NMSU a reality, and she loves Las Cruces so much, she might stay here.

“My goal was to go back north and help my people,” Olivia said. “But this really became home for me. I have a soft spot for the students.”
