Golf has been a lifeline for veteran Nicholas Cox – both physically and mentally – since he retired from 11 years of service in the U.S. Air Force.

When he decided he wanted a second career that centered on his newfound passion, he turned to New Mexico State University’s exceptional PGA Golf Management Program. His dreams are becoming a reality – and that’s thanks to donors like you.

“More than anything I want to help the lives of veterans similar to the way that golf has helped me,” Nicholas said. “I’ve dealt with mental illness and depression as well as lower back problems from my deployments, which made it hard for me to even get out of bed some mornings. Golf has changed my life in that I feel stress-free when I work, and I now have significantly less pain throughout the day.”

Cox, a junior from Mitchell, Nebraska, jumped at the opportunity to prepare for a career as a PGA member at a golf facility or in a golf industry position. Scholarships have made his time at NMSU possible and keep him “motivated to work hard and try to be a good leader for the other students in the program,” he said.
